Zelensky signs law on audit reform

KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed law "On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on improving the legal basis for auditing in Ukraine" No. 2597-IX (passed in the parliament under No. 6245-d), according to information on the parliament’s website.

"This is a European integration legislative act that implements the provisions of the Directive of the European Parliament and Council (EU) of May 17, 2006 No. 2006/43/EC," Head of the committee on finance, tax and customs policy Danylo Hetmantsev commented on the signing in Telegram channel.

According to him, the law provides for the improvement of the norms regarding the information that is given in the audit report on the results of a mandatory audit of the financial statements of an enterprise, the implementation of European legislation on ensuring the unambiguity of the content of the audit report, preventing the influence of regulators on the content of the audit report on the audit of financial statements, as well as clarification composition of prohibited non-audit services.

"It is also important that this law enhances the role of professional organizations, since they are delegated certain powers (professional training and quality control)," the committee’s head said.

In particular, the powers of the Audit Public Oversight Board of Ukraine to form the Supervisory Board and the Quality Assurance Inspectorate are specified, as well as the cost of exams and advanced training is reduced.
