KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will send the award that accompanies the Medal of Freedom to help Ukrainian veterans.
"It is a great honor to be awarded the Medal of Freedom, which was given to me by Senators Chris Koons and Rob Portman during their visit to Kyiv. This award truly reflects how and what the Ukrainian people are fighting for," he said in a video released on Tuesday.
"Freedom is the main word for us. Something that unites all Ukrainians. Thank you for your support – President Biden, both parties in Congress, and every American! Know that you are supporting not just a state or a leader, but millions of people who value freedom just like you," he said.
Zelensky said he "decided to use the award that accompanies the Medal of Freedom to help Ukrainian veterans, namely, to restore and upgrade a rehabilitation center for veterans in the town of Borodianka, Kyiv region of Ukraine."
Zelensky expressed his gratitude for the award from the U.S. National Constitution Center and called on the American people to maintain their unwavering support for Ukraine "until the day when we can fully restore the territorial integrity of our state."
