Zelensky visits advanced military positions in Bakhmut, presents state awards – Nykyforov

KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During a working trip to the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the front lines of one of the mechanized brigades and presented state awards to military personnel, Presidential Spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov said.

"Volodymyr Zelensky made a working trip to Donetsk region, where he met with the Ukrainian military defending the city of Bakhmut. The President visited the front-line positions of one of the mechanized brigades, whose personnel are confronting the enemy on the outskirts of the city," Nykyforov wrote on Facebook.

Being in the area of hostilities, Zelensky thanked the Ukrainian soldiers for the courage, resilience and strength they demonstrate when repelling enemy attacks. The participants honored the memory of the fallen heroes with a minute of silence.

The head of state presented the servicemen with state awards. In particular, they were received by soldiers of mechanized, motorized infantry, mountain assault, tank, artillery and airmobile units.

According to Nykyforov, the president also heard a report from the commander on the recent situation, logistics and proposals for further actions.
