By KYIV. Dec 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States has clearly demonstrated that the United States and Ukraine are strategic partners, said Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine.
"This is a historic, very timely and powerful visit, which very clearly demonstrated that the United States and Ukraine are strategic partners. The level of our relations is like never before. The personal relationship and respect between the presidents is truly unprecedented," Yermak said on air national telethon.
He also noted that the most important thing in Zelensky’s speech in Congress was its spirit, in particular, his speech was "imbued" with the spirit of victory.
"The most important thing in the speech of the President of Ukraine is its spirit. The fact that Ukraine has been fighting for 300 days and is not only defending itself, but we know that we are already de-occupying territories. The speech was imbued with the spirit of victory and its feeling. There were very clear messages about what is needed for this victory. Of course, we want it to come as soon as possible. We want, and we are sure, that this will be our common victory, and, first of all, with our main strategic partner, the United States," he said.
In addition, according to the head of the President’s Office, there were very important messages in Zelensky’s speech that the Ukrainians had already defeated Russia in their feelings and in their heads.
"We are confident that this is happening today with our European partners," he said.
As Yermak emphasized, it was extremely important for the entire Ukrainian delegation to thank the people of the United States, because the attention to the visit of the President of Ukraine was unprecedented.
"Ordinary residents of Washington stood on the streets, saw the Ukrainian flag on the president’s car, they filmed a video. I think if the president had five-ten minutes… These are hundreds of thousands of people who greeted him, conveyed their respect for the heroic Ukrainian nation and for our military," Yermak said.
"The whole world saw how many times members of Congress stood up and applauded our president, Ukraine and its people. I think this is very significant. Many said that this had never happened before. And this is a very powerful signal for further strategic cooperation and faith, and confidence in our victory," he concluded.
