Zelenskyy: Any peace plan should be based on Ukrainian proposals

KYIV. May 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Any plan to achieve peace in Ukraine will be based on its proposals, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a briefing after meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday in Berlin.

“Any peace plan will be based on Ukraine’s proposals. We don’t need many different plans. The war is on our territory, it is necessary to be based on our plan,” he said.

At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized the interest “for more powers to take part in our summit on the peace formula.”

“We are ready for discussions and proposals, but only on our platform,” he said.

The Ukrainian president also thanked Chancellor Scholz and the German people for support from Germany, which he called “defending life.”

Now, he says, it’s “time for action.” “We want the war to end with a just peace,” he said.

The President of Ukraine noted that everything in the new German aid package would “strengthen our defense.” According to Zelenskyy, Germany has reserved EUR 11 billion for defense support to Ukraine. “This is a manifestation of the strength of your state,” he said.
