By KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United States, where he will take part in the UN General Assembly and hold bilateral meetings.
“New York. Right from the airport I’m going to our soldiers who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in America. First of all, support for our people and gratitude to those who help Ukraine and Ukrainians,” he said on Monday in the Telegram channel.
“Next are important and busy days. The UN General Assembly, the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, the Security Council. Significant bilateral meetings have already been scheduled,” he said.
Zelenskyy also said “the territorial integrity of the state is a key principle of all basic international documents, in particular the UN Charter. And it is necessary to return it to its full strength, destroyed by the Russian invasion, and to increase the ability of the UN to stop and prevent aggression.”
“Ukraine will make a clear proposal on this matter to UN members,” he said.
In Washington, he said, negotiations are planned with the President of the United States, with the leaders of the chambers and parties of Congress, and with the military leadership. “I will meet with American business, journalists, and the community. Thank you for the leadership of the United States in supporting our struggle for freedom and independence,” Zelenskyy also said.
