KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to tankers on their professional holiday.
“Today, on September 14, we celebrate your day for the first time – the Day of Tankers. The day of our heroic tank troops and we celebrate this day on the basis of the Ukrainian victory,” he said at the award ceremony.
“Last year, it was on these days that the Kharkiv offensive operation ended. On September 14, after stabilization measures, our blue-yellow flag was raised in the town of Izium. And one of the foundations of that offensive operation, one of the foundations of our strength were tank troops. They provided the speed and power of the Ukrainian strike,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, it is an honor for him “to award you today, to award our best soldiers, but we all know that the path to victory is very difficult and on this path we lose the best, the strongest. But we must not lose the names of these people in the history of our state.”
“I want us to always remember thanks to whom we have our state, thanks to whom it will exist,” Zelenskyy said.
