Czech Republic to transfer two Cube air defense systems to Ukraine – President Pavel

KYIV. May 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Czech Republic will hand over to Ukraine two anti-aircraft missile systems Cube and missiles to them, Czech President Peter Pavel said.

As reported by České noviny, according to Pavel, it is also advisable to consider the possibility of transferring Czech L-159 fighters to Ukraine. He stressed that the Czech Republic has already provided Ukraine with about a hundred tanks and the same number of armored personnel carriers.

“It’s worth thinking about, maybe we could provide Ukraine with our L-159 aircraft with a certain type and prospect for rearmament, because even as direct aviation support aircraft, they could significantly help Ukraine in the counteroffensive,” he added.

The Czech President stressed that Western countries have so far refrained from providing modern fighters to Ukraine, because preparation for their use takes a relatively long time and because the machines contain secret systems. According to him, the allied countries do not want these devices to fall into the hands of Russia.

In service with the Czech army, the KUB air defense system will be replaced by SPYDER missile systems manufactured by Israel.
