Govt approves list of underground oil and gas storage facilities – PM

KYIV. May 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a list of underground facilities where, in particular, accumulated energy carriers will be stored, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

“One of the government’s strategic goals is to maximize the accumulation and effective preservation of reserves in wartime and in the long term, in particular, energy resources. Today, we are approving a list of underground facilities where accumulated oil, gas, other substances and materials will be stored,” Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

According to him, this will make it possible to equip and maintain reliable storage facilities inaccessible to the enemy and other threats.

“Another solution is the transformation of 11 organizations of the State Reserve into state-owned enterprises. It is the first step towards their modernization. Modernized storage facilities will help Ukraine create strategic reserves in the coming decades,” Shmyhal said.
