KYIV. May 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov thanked the United States for the new package of military assistance for the Ukrainian army, calling it a significant contribution to the peace and security of the European continent.
“On this Day of Europe, the United States made another significant investment in the peace and security of our continent – a new package of security assistance for Ukrainian army.
Thank you to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and all Americans! Artillery ammo, air defense systems, and more will help us to win this fight,” Reznikov said on Twitter.
Earlier, the U.S. Department of Defense announced a new security assistance package to confirm the continued support for Ukraine, including to strengthen its air defense and meet the needs for artillery ammunition.
According to the Pentagon, the assistance package contains additional air defense systems and equipment; equipment for integrating Western air defense launchers, missiles and radars with Ukrainian air defense systems; ammunition to counter unmanned aircraft systems; 155-mm artillery shells; commercial satellite imaging services; training and maintenance support.
