SBU exposes businessmen in Poltava region supplying special equipment to Russia for production of S-300 air defense systems

KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has blocked a scheme of illegal delivery of critical export goods to the Russian Federation in Poltava region, the SBU reports.

“The head of a local diamond tool manufacturing company and his accomplice, who has a controlled business on the territory of the Russian Federation, are involved in organizing the transaction. The defendants have established a mechanism for the hidden shipment of products used also by enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country,” the SBU said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

According to the SBU, among the customers of the goods were representatives of the Kursk Electrical Equipment Plant, where they sent tools for the production of energy protection systems at the facilities of the Russian Navy.

Also, according to the report, the dealers contacted Moscow JSC Scientific and Production Enterprise Thorium of the state Corporation Rostec, which produces components for the Russian S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

“As a result of complex measures, the SBU officers prevented the export of more than 100 units of a new batch of goods to the Russian Federation,” the SBU emphasizes.

According to the investigation, in order to implement the transaction, the dealers first sent products to their accomplices in one of the countries of the South Caucasus, from where the “parcels” were forwarded to the address of a controlled commercial structure in the Russian Federation.

During searches in the production and office premises of the defendants, documents with evidence of illegal activities, seals of Russian companies controlled by the defendants who were engaged in the sale of products on the territory of the Russian Federation, ammunition for the Kalashnikov assault rifle were revealed.

Currently, both criminals are notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration), and the director of the enterprise is additionally notified under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

The issue of choosing a preventive measure by the suspect is being resolved.

Investigative actions are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU officers in Poltava region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
